"Cinco de Mayo" at The Newmarket Banner

St Kilda SoCal inspired restaurant, The Newmarket, threw open the doors, turned up the music, poured the margaritas and served up a huge ‘Cinco Spread’ to celebrate freedom and fun in true Latin American style on Thursday 5 May.

The venue transformed into a Latin American haven and invited Melburnians to experience a Cinco de Mayo celebration of flavours of Southern California with a 4 course ‘Cinco Spread’ that features all-time crowd favourites from the Newmarket menu.

Dishes such as BBQ corn on the cob with jalapeño crema, soft shell crab tacos with fennel, corn and spiced tomatillo and 36-hour slow cooked Berkshire pork hock with chilli caramel, green mole and oregano pilaf were served up. The degustation accompanied by an 1800 Don Julio margarita to “keep the heat at bay”.

DJs, piñatas, fire breathers and stilt walkers, added a little “carnival” to the party.
Vamos de fiesta!
